Musée des Troupes de Montagne (Mountain Troops Museum)

Reconstructions of powerful scenes, such as a Great War trench, sets, lights and sounds, uniforms, objects... recreate the experience of those who were nicknamed "The Blue Devils" by their adversaries during the First World War. Part of the historic Bastille site, the Musée des Troupes de montagne is open to a wide public. In a privileged setting, in the heart of the fortress, the museum presents visitors with an area unique in France, combining man and mountain. A visit to the museum is a natural extension of a visit to the Bastille site. Overlooked 200 metres above by the memorial dedicated to mountain soldiers, the museum also serves as a reminder that the history of the Bastille and Grenoble is closely intertwined with that of the mountain troops.
