With his film La grotte Chauvet, hors du temps (The Chauvet Cave, Timeless), Raphaël Dallaporta takes a contemplative and contemporary look at an archaeological gem that is nearly 36,000 years old.
The artist is one of the few people, apart from scientists, to have been allowed to enter the cave. With the collaboration of the digital creation company on-situ, he has created panoramas that capture the beauty of the place and bring it to life.
This film tells a story that personifies the cave and comments on astonishing images combining reliefs carved out by water infiltration and cave paintings.
30-minute black and white film, suitable for ages 13 and up.
Themes: cave art, history, astronomy, etc.

Batteries
From 1 May to 19 September 2026
Free
From the mine to the factory, ‘Batteries’ immerses us in a world where we interact with objects to better understand how they work. Across four themed sections exploring their production, how they function, their uses and the debates surrounding them, the perspectives of various stakeholders in the sector intersect, prompting us to examine their political, economic and societal impacts. How far will batteries enable us to travel, to participate in the energy transition, and at what cost?
The Batteries exhibition arrives at La Casemate in Grenoble following its run in Paris.
An initiative supported by the State as part of the ‘Skills and Professions of the Future’ call for expressions of interest under the France 2030 Programme, operated by the Caisse des Dépôts.
